Thoughts about the new visa regime for Chinese, in UK and Europe

Have you heard the news? The President of China was in town and to honour the state visit, the UK government announced that Chinese will (from January 2016) receive a two year multiple entry visa to the UK. Currently it’s just 6 months, while the US started offering a ten year visa to Chinese and France began the 2 year visa last year. So far, so good right?

What the new credit scoring service from Alipay means for visa applications and why should you care?

Recent news about Alipay’s initiative to use credit scoring system Sesame Credit to give consulates a fast track way to measure an applicant’s credit worthiness is pointing to a major shift in how consulates process and think about giving visas to Chinese visitors. It is also a measure of the ingenuity and creativity of Chinese companies competing for the outbound Chinese traveller’s Yuan.

Update on the new Join UK/Belgium Visa application for Chinese visitors from 1 July 2015

The UK and Belgian governments announced a new pilot scheme that will streamline the visa application processes for Chinese nationals wanting to visit the UK, Belgium and the Schengen area as part of the same trip, including Approved Destination Service (ADS) tour groups.
